    Maharashtra School Education Department has declared the dates for SSC and HSC examinations

    Maharashtra School Education Department on Thursday has declared the dates for SSC and HSC examinations to be conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education. Both the examination will be held in the months of April and May. The written examinations of the State Board’s Class 12 (HSC) will begin on April 23 and end on May 29 this year. The Class 10 (SSC) examinations will commence on April 29 and conclude on May 31.

    The examinations are usually held in February and March, which have to be rescheduled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  The practical examinations for Class 12 will be held between April 1 and 22, and for Class 10 between April 9 and 28. According to Minister of Education Varsha Gaikwad, Government is trying to declare the results of Classes 12 and 10 by July-end and August-end, respectively. The State has already reduced the syllabus by 25 percent so that it will not be a burden for students. In 2020, the examinations were conducted as per schedule as the pandemic had begun in mid-March. The Geography paper of SSC was delayed and finally, it was canceled. While calculating marks to be given for Geography. the marks of the students secured in other subjects were considered.  The results were declared in June and July.

    Results of re-examination or ATKT exams of Class 10 (SSC) that were conducted from November 20 to December 5, 2020, and re-exams of Class 12 (HSC) board (general and bifocal) that were conducted from November 20 to December 10 were declared on December 23. This year, the number of students writing supplementary examinations was lowered by 80% and 47% for SSC and HSC examinations, respectively. These examinations are normally conducted in July and August. This year they were delayed due to the lockdown. Some parents raised questions over the delay in the results of Supplementary examinations. According to some parents, Government should postpone the examinations this year.
