The victims were identified as Bipin Saroj, Rama Shankar (both from Uttar Pradesh), Sushil Kumar Pandey from Bihar) and Prateek Pashte and Mahindra Ingle of Pune district.
The police is still collecting the key details to find out who died as their family members are yet to be informed.
The victims were working for Suvidha Engineers. Bipin Saroj was the first one to see that the campus caught fire and started shouting “Bhaago, Aag lagi hai” (Run, the campus has caught fire). Everybody listening to him ran out and saved themselves but Bipin could not make it even though he was the first one to know.
There were nine people on the fourth floor including Bipin and his younger brother Avinash.
“We were doing AC insulation on the fourth floor and suddenly we noticed smoke. Within a few seconds, the smoke became so intense that we couldn’t see anything. Everybody ran towards the window and jumped down,” Avinash said.
“As soon as everyone came running outside, I kept on shouting for my brother but he could not make it,” he added.
On December 22 which is exactly one month ago, Bipin had arrived in Pune to work along with his brother.
The police said that the fire became so intense due to the inflammable material available at the place such as PVC, plastic and plywood and acrylic. Police officials also added that the dead bodies were sent to the noble hospital and then were sent for the postmortem to the Sassoon general hospital.
