The country is celebrating its 72nd Republic Day today. Our country got its constitution on this day in 1950. The Constitution of India was enacted on January 26, 1950, at 10:18 am. After the constitution came into force, our country became a republic.

There will be no Chief Guest this year on the occasion of Republic Day 2021. British PM Boris Johnson was invited as the chief guest this year but had to cancel his trip due to the outbreak of the new coronavirus strain in Britain. Earlier in 1952, 1953, and 1966, there were no chief guests for the Republic Day parade.

Rajpath saw a grand display of military power, valuable cultural heritage, and socio-economic progress. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, this year will see a lot of changes. This time this program will be slightly different. Due to the corona epidemic, this time there will be a system of thermal screening at the entry point of the parade site, along with doctors and health workers. Along with this, sanitizer, face mask, and gloves will also be arranged.

However, this year the Republic Day celebration across the nation was relatively muted due to the coronavirus pandemic. There were several changes in the celebration. There will be no chief guest this year and it will mark the first Republic Day parade without a chief guest in 50 years.

However, on Independence Day on August 15, the national tri-color is hoisted while on Republic Day it is unfurled.
