PDP president(Bulli bai) Mehbooba Mufti Sunday alleged that “fringe elements” who were targeting Muslim. Women online “enjoy the patronage of those in power”.
“Appalling that the criminals behind such derogatory and demeaning actions against Muslim. Women given a free run,” the former chief minister said in a tweet.
She further said, “Whether its open calls for genocide of Muslims or targeting Muslim. Women online it is clear that these fringe elements enjoy the patronage of those in power.”
Mufti was reacting after photographs of at least 100 influential Muslim. Women uploaded for auction on an app sparking outrage.
On Saturday, a woman journalist in Delhi registered a police complaint. Alleging that she was being targeted by an unidentified group of people on a mobile application.
The journalist in Twitter said it was “very sad that as a Muslim woman you have to start your new year with this sense of fear and disgust.”
Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw later tweeted that action taken and the GitHub user behind the ‘Bulli Bai’ He also said GitHub has confirmed blocking the user.

IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has said GitHub, the hosting platform, has confirmed blocking the user and that CERT and police authorities are coordinating further action.
Mehbooba, however, alleged, “…it is clear that these fringe elements enjoy the patronage of those in power.”
