    Buxar Hooch Tragedy: Six dead, several critical after drinking illicit alcohol

     The series of deaths due to consumption of illicit alcohol in Buxar continues. After Nalanda and Saran, now six people have died in Buxar during the intervening night of January 26 and January 27. 

    Many others remain in critical condition. Villagers claim that they have died due to drinking illicit alcohol. It is said that five people have died after consuming alcohol on the night of January 26 in Amsari village of Murar police station area under Dumraon sub-division. Two-three people are battling between life and death in hospital.

    According to rural sources, on the evening of January 26, 7-8 people were celebrating Republic Day and drinking alcohol. The series of deaths started late in the night. By morning six had died. The condition of the other two-three people who consumed alcohol is said to be very worrying. 

    Among the dead were Anand Singh, son of Rajnarayan Singh, Minku Singh, son of Gopal Singh, Shivmohan Yadav, son of Yadu Yadav, Bhrigu Singh, son of Kameshwar Singh, Shiku Musahar and Ranjit Ram, son of Jawahar Ram, resident of Karaj village. The death toll expect to rise further. The condition of seven-eight people, including Bhrigu Singh’s brother Bunty Singh, remains critical.

    During the party at around 12 o’clock late in the night, suddenly Anand Singh’s health started deteriorating. He rushed to the sub-divisional hospital. But soon after Anand Singh died. After this the condition of all the other people involved in the liquor party started deteriorating and so far five people died one after the other. While the condition of seven to eight people has become very worrying. 

    Dumraon ASP Shriraj said that so far five people have died. It will be clear only after getting the post-mortem report what was the cause of death.
