Many people contract viral coughs, colds, and sore throats during the winter. These seasonal illnesses might obviously seriously interfere with your regular routines. Many over-the-counter medications promise comfort, but many of them might make you feel sleepy and lethargic. Ayurveda, which is recognised to assist with problem management in a natural approach, so appears to be the next best alternative.
Ayurveda specialist Dr. Dixa Bhavsar Savaliya provided a straightforward home cure on her Instagram page that is worth your attention if you’ve been sniffling and coughing. She captioned the photo, “This ayurvedic herbal mixture can assist you treat cold, cough, and sore throat swiftly and efficiently.”
For this remedy, all you need is:
Half tsp tumeric
Half tsp dry ginger powder
1 black pepper (freshly crushed) or 2 pinch of black pepper powder
1 tsp pure honey
“Mix it well and have it 2-3 times/day 1 hour before/after meals,” she suggested.
Dr. Dixa also provided more treatments that will be very helpful:
- Boil 1 litre of water with 7-8 tulsi leaves, a tiny piece of ginger (adrak), a few garlic cloves (lasun), 1 tsp of carom seeds (ajwain), 1 tsp of methi seeds, turmeric (dried or fresh), and 4-5 black peppercorns (kali mirch) until it is half full, then drink it first thing in the morning.
- Avoid using cold water for drinking and taking showers.
- To help your digestion, drink warm water.
- Honey relieves throat discomfort.
- Drink ginger, turmeric, lemon tea.
- Add some ajwain, eucalyptus oil or turmeric in boiled water for steam inhalation.
- Drink warm milk with turmeric.
- Gargle with lukewarm water with turmeric and rock salt incase of sore throat.
- Ayurvedic formulations like Sitopladi Churna (expectorant), Trikatu Churna, Talisadi churna (decongestant) with honey.
- “Along with these, you also need to reduce intake of fatty foods, fried, stale and street food. Try and eat light home-cooked food. Also, perform Bhastrika, Anuloma Viloma and Bhramri Pranayama twice every day, both in the morning and at night,” she added.
