    PM Modi on the Turkish earthquake: “India stands in solidarity with the people of Turkey”

    On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences for the lives lost in the earthquake in Turkey and stated that India is prepared to provide whatever support available to help Turkey cope with this tragedy.

    A powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit southeast Turkey and Syria early Monday. At least 195 people were killed in both countries, hundreds were injured and the toll was expected to rise, according to media reports.

    The prime minister quoted a tweet about the earthquake from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and stated, “India stands in sympathy with the people of Turkey and is ready to offer all possible assistance to cope with this catastrophe.”

    S Jaishankar, the minister of external affairs, expressed his sympathy for the earthquake’s fatalities as well.

    “Very saddened by the deaths and destruction caused by the earthquake in Turkey. Our condolences and support are being sent to FM @MevlutCavusoglu during this trying time “In a tweet, Jaishankar stated.
