According to Pradhan, Australia and India are working together to elevate the importance of the knowledge pillar in their bilateral ties.

A framework agreement for the mutual recognition of credentials agreed by Australia and India. Which will make it easier for professionals and students to move back and forth between the two nations.

The deal was inke on Thursday during a meeting in Delhi between Australia’s Jason Clare and India’s Dharmendra Pradhan, minister of education. The agreement is a result of the prime leaders of both nations’ resolve to form a joint task force for reciprocal recognition of qualifications during the 2nd India-Australia Virtual Summit, which held on March 21, 2022.

Pradhan said that Australia and India are aligned to make the knowledge pillar a key aspect of bilateral relations.

According to Lare, the Australian government would provide $1.89 million to help India operate a skill-building programme in the crucial industry of agriculture. He further stated that Australia is attempting to resolve the backlog of education visas for Indian students on a high priority basis.

In their speeches to the audience, both ministers reaffirmed that this collaboration is a two-way street. That allows students from both nations to immigrate and enrol in the programmes of their choosing.

When asked how many Australian students are expressing interest in pursuing education in India. Clare said, “The number of Australian students showing interest to study in India is very small. It’s not big enough. One of the things we spoke about this morning in our meeting. In meeting is what steps can we take to encourage more Australians to come and study here.”

Five students sent to India by the Australian government in January. To pursue a course in Textile at Odisha’s Centurion University.
