With the launch of the Chandrayaan 3 spacecraft on board the LVM3 rocket from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota on Friday, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will make its second attempt to land a robotic lander on the surface of the moon.
Ahead of the launch, scheduled for 14.35 pm Friday from the second launch pad at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. The countdown for the launch began Thursday afternoon with the mission authorisation board clearing the launch.
Announcing this, ISRO said that the mission readiness review had been completed. Also the “board has authorised the launch”.The first part of the Chandrayaan 3 mission, spread over nearly 40 days with a possible moon rendezvous scheduled for August 23, will, on Friday, involve the launching of ISRO’s heavy lift LVM3 rocket into space with the Chandrayaan 3 spacecraft onboard to an altitude of 179.192 km in a flight spanning 969.42 second (over 16 minutes).
Chandrayaan-3 launch: 40 students from Punjab govt schools to witness the launch at Sriharikota
A group of 40 students from Punjab government schools will attend the launch of India’s moon mission Chandrayaan-3.
Also Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said 40 students from Punjab government’s Schools of Eminence (SoE) left for Sriharikota Thursday from Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport, Chandigarh.
Bains said the students were selected for the exposure visit on the basis of their rankings in SoE entrance exam. Those who are in science stream have been given preference to help them gain required exposure.
On the three-day visit, they will also see the entire space research facility at Sriharikota. And will learn about India’s space missions and advancements in space technology, said Bains.
