A defamation case was filed against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi by a BJP leader for purportedly making derogatory remarks about Amit Shah. On Tuesday, the Sultanpur court granted bail to Rahul Gandhi in this 2018 case. The lawsuit was initiated by BJP leader Vijay Mishra due to remarks made by Gandhi against Home Minister Amit Shah. The court briefly detained Gandhi for around 30-45 minutes during the proceedings.

Rahul Gandhi’s Court Appearance and Bail Approval:
Rahul Gandhi’s bail advocate, Santosh Pandey, stated that Gandhi voluntarily appeared in court today. Upon his appearance, the court briefly detained him for 30-45 minutes. Subsequently, Gandhi’s bail application was submitted and approved by the court. Pandey mentioned that no further hearing date has been set yet. Additionally, Gandhi’s lawyer asserted his innocence, stating that he did not make any defamatory remarks.

Defamation Lawsuit Against Rahul Gandhi:
A defamation lawsuit was initiated against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for purportedly making derogatory remarks about Shah during a press conference in Bengaluru on May 8 of that year. At the time of Gandhi’s statement, Amit Shah served as the BJP president. Gandhi criticized the BJP by highlighting a contradiction, pointing out that while the party professed to uphold honest and clean politics, its president was allegedly involved in a murder case.

Vijay Mishra’s Reaction and Legal Action:
In response to the situation, Mishra stated to ANI, “I held the position of vice president in BJP at the time of this incident. Rahul Gandhi accused Amit Shah of being a murderer during a speech in Bengaluru. Upon hearing these allegations, I, as a dedicated 33-year-old party worker, felt deeply aggrieved. I then proceeded to file a complaint through my legal representative, and this legal process has persisted for nearly five years…”
