Kohli’s Heroics Not Enough as RCB Falters, Kohli Falls Short of Century

RCB encountered a shaky beginning to their chase, relying heavily on Virat Kohli’s remarkable performance to keep their hopes alive. Kohli, the former RCB skipper, played a crucial role, scoring 77 runs off 49 deliveries, featuring 11 boundaries and two sixes. Despite his stellar effort, he fell on the last ball of the 16th over to Harshal Patel, narrowly missing out on a century. Kohli’s dismissal left RCB struggling at 130/5.

As RCB appeared to be heading towards another loss, Dinesh Karthik entered the fray. His innings didn’t kick off smoothly as his partner Anuj Rawat departed early in the 17th over, being replaced by Mahipal Lomror. Karthik initiated his innings with a boundary, followed by a single. He then struck a four off Sam Curran’s bowling and concluded the over with a couple of runs.

With the match hanging in the balance, RCB required 10 runs in the final over, prompting Shikhar Dhawan to entrust Arshdeep with the ball. Arshdeep, the seasoned PBKS pacer, started with a length delivery, which Karthik cleverly scooped over short fine leg for a six. This impressive shot spurred celebrations among Karthik’s RCB teammates in the dugout, including Kohli, who leaped to their feet. Following this, Arshdeep delivered a wide, and then Karthik confidently dispatched a full delivery for a boundary past the bowler, sealing the victory in a stylish manner.
