Robert Vadra, the son-in-law of former Congress president Sonia Gandhi, has stated his interest in running for the Lok Sabha election from Amethi, Uttar Pradesh. He believes that the constituents are inclind towards having a representative from the Gandhi family this time around.

Robert Vadra Advocates for Change in Amethi Representation
Speaking to the media, Robert Vadra, the husband of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, mention that the residents of Amethi were dissatisfied with their current Member of Parliament, Union Minister Smriti Irani. He emphasized the longstanding efforts of the Gandhi family towards the development of regions like Rae Bareli, Amethi, Sultanpur, and Jagdishpur. Vadra expressed that voters in Amethi have recognized their mistake in electing Ms. Irani and now desire a Gandhi family member to contest the Lok Sabha election, ensuring victory by a significant margin. He further stated that people anticipate his foray into politics to commence as a candidate from the Amethi constituency.

Robert Vadra’s Political Ambitions and Readiness to Contest in Amethi
Mr. Vadra mentioned that his initial involvement in a political campaign dates back to 1999, when he, along with Ms. Vadra, campaigned in Amethi, forming a strong connection with its residents over time. In a recent interview with a television channel, he disclosed receiving requests from various places, including his hometown Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh and Telangana, urging him to contest elections from their constituencies. While expressing his desire to see Ms. Vadra enter Parliament first, he expressed readiness to contest against Ms. Irani in Amethi, despite her victory over Mr. Rahul Gandhi by a margin of 55,120 votes in the 2019 elections.
