    Intense rainfall pounded the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Tuesday, resulting in flooded roads. According to AP, various areas of Dubai experienced flooding caused by heavy rain. Flight activities at Dubai airport were momentarily halted due to the severe storm.

    The rain started on the night of Monday, April 15, in the UAE. By Tuesday evening, more than 120 millimeters (4.75 inches) of rain had fallen. This amount of rainfall is usually seen in the entire year in the UAE. The weather department has expressed concerns about heavy rainfall continuing into Wednesday morning. People have been advised to stay indoors.

    DXB Airport Halts Briefly Amid Heavy Rain, Travelers Advised: Check Flights, Use Dubai Metro

    “Following a brief suspension due to the intense storm, operations at @DXB have resumed. However, significant flooding on roads leading to the airport persists, with forecasts predicting continued unsettled weather until tomorrow morning,” stated Dubai International Airport’s X handle.

    The notification advised travelers to verify their flight status with their respective airlines, allocate extra travel time to reach the airport, and utilize the Dubai Metro for smoother transit.

    UAE Deals with Flooded Streets, School Closures ; Burj Khalifa Hit by Lightning

    Police and emergency responders cautiously navigated the flooded streets, while lightning illuminated the sky, occasionally striking the tip of Burj Khalifa. According to the report, schools throughout the UAE remained mostly closed, and government workers opted for remote work. Despite the inclement weather, some employees braved the conditions, finding their vehicles unexpectedly submerged in water on certain roads due to the heavy rain.
