On Tuesday, Maharashtra’s crime branch arrested Dawood Shaikh, accused of stabbing 20-year-old Yashashri Shinde to death and abandoning her body on a roadside in Navi Mumbai’s Uran area.

He was apprehended in his hometown of Gulbarga, Karnataka.
The police had deployed eight teams to track down Dawood. According to a crime branch officer familiar with the case, Dawood admitted to killing Yashashri Shinde after she rejected his advances years earlier and he suspected she was involved with another man.

Yashashri’s father filed a missing persons report late Thursday after she failed to return home. On Friday evening, her body was discovered on a secluded road near a petrol pump in Kotnaka, Uran taluka. She was found in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds to her waist and back. A commerce graduate, Yashashri was employed as a data entry operator at a private company. Earlier that morning, she had told her parents she was heading to a friend’s house. When she did not come back by late night, her father reported her missing.
Grisly Discovery: Girl Found Injured and Attacked by Stray Dogs
On Friday night, a police officer from the Uran police station received a report about a girl found lying in a pool of blood on the road at Kotnaka, with stray dogs attacking her body. When the police team arrived, they discovered that the girl’s face had been severely disfigured by the dogs, who had also eaten parts of her shoulder. Additionally, the girl had three stab wounds on her waist and back.

Her family, who had reported her missing the previous day, identified the body. They had previously filed a molestation complaint against Dawood Shaikh in 2019. Dawood Shaikh works as a bus conductor for the Karnataka State Road Transport Agency.
