    When asked whether the Government would conduct a caste census, a key demand from the Opposition, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday did not dismiss the possibility. He stated that the decision would be made public when the Census, delayed since 2021, is announced. During a press conference marking the 100 days of the NDA government’s third term, Shah mentioned that the enumeration process would start “very soon.”

    Amit Shah: CRPF Deployed in Strategic Areas

    Secondly, the CRPF has been successfully deployed in key strategic areas… Several security lapses along the border have been addressed. Although there were violent incidents over three days recently, no major incidents have occurred in the last three months. I am hopeful that we will be able to bring the situation under control. A solution cannot be achieved without dialogue between the two groups. We are currently in discussions with both the Kuki and Meitei groups and have created a roadmap to make all necessary efforts, he said.

    India’s progress

    Hailing India’s foreign policy, Shah said, “for the first time after Independence, the world saw a government in India that had a spine in its foreign policy”. “Sixty crores of Indians got houses, toilets, gas, drinking water, electricity, 5 kg free rations and health services up to 5 lakh under the leadership of Narendra Modi… Our goal is that when we go into the elections the next time, there would be no one who does not own a house,” he said.
