    Shreya Ghoshal has become the first Indian artist to be named Spotify’s Equal Global Ambassador, marking a historic achievement. She announced the news on Monday, along with pictures of her image displayed at Times Square in New York.”Excited to announce that your SG is the first Indian artist to become the Equal Global Ambassador for @spotify @spotifyindia. Here are some snapshots from New York Times Square,” Shreya shared along with photos of the digital billboard.

    According to Spotify’s official website, the platform launched the Equal Global Music Program in 2021 to promote gender equality in the music industry. This initiative highlights and honors the contributions of women creators worldwide.

    Shreya Ghoshal first gained recognition with her debut Bollywood song “Bairi Piya” from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas in 2002. Since then, she has lent her voice to numerous hits across various genres. Notable songs in her repertoire include “Teri Ore” (2008), “Sun Raha Hai Na Tu” (2013), “Ghoomar” (2018), “Ghar More Pardesiya” (2019), and “Dheeme Dheeme” (2023).

    Shreya recently postponed her September 14 concert in Kolkata by a month due to the RG Kar rape and murder incident that has deeply affected the nation. She explained, “This concert was eagerly awaited by all of us, but it is essential for me to take a stand and show solidarity. I earnestly pray for the safety and respect of women worldwide, not just in our country. I trust my friends and fans will understand and support our decision to reschedule the concert.”

    On the September 20 episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 16, Shreya Ghoshal appeared as a guest with Sonu Nigam. The two artists have worked together on over 120 songs. During the episode, Shreya performed several popular tracks. These included “Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin” (2011), “Main Agar Kahoon” (2007), and “Main Hoon Na” (2004).

    Professionally, Shreya is gearing up to return as a judge on Indian Idol Season 15. She recently recorded the track “Zaroorat Se Zyada” for the film Vedaa, starring John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh. Additionally, she has contributed her voice to the Hindi version of the song “Angaaron” from the highly anticipated movie Pushpa 2: The Rule, featuring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna.
