Sunil Gavaskar’s Remark on Bangladesh Victory Shocks Everyone

The Indian cricket team displayed complete dominance in the second Test against Bangladesh, securing a comfortable seven-wicket victory. Despite losing an entire day’s play to rain, India wrapped up the match with a session to spare on Friday, clinching a 2-0 series sweep. Bangladesh started Day 5 at 26/2 but suffered a dramatic collapse, losing four wickets for just three runs. Though they managed a narrow 94-run lead, India easily chased down the target to win the match.

On the fifth day, former Indian cricket captain Sunil Gavaskar was asked by ex-Bangladesh player Athar Ali for advice for the Bangladesh batters. Gavaskar responded humorously, saying, “As an Indian, I’ll say get out quickly.”

India’s 2-0 series win over Bangladesh at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur solidified their position at the top of the World Test Championship (WTC) standings. The seven-wicket victory raised India’s points percentage to 74.24%. Meanwhile, Bangladesh dropped to seventh place with 34.38%, sitting behind South Africa and New Zealand, who are in fifth and sixth place, respectively.

India Dominates Bangladesh in Historic Test Victory with Record-Breaking Batting Performance

Australia, with a points percentage of 62.50, holds second place after winning eight of their 12 matches. Sri Lanka is in third with 55.56 per cent, while England follows in fourth with 42.19 per cent.

Despite rain disrupting play on Days 2 and 3, India’s determination to win remained strong. Bangladesh posted a first-innings total of 233, aided by a century from Mominul Haque (107 not out).

With limited time to secure a result, India took a highly aggressive approach, treating the Test like a T20 match. On Day 4, India’s batters launched a historic assault on Bangladesh, with Yashasvi Jaiswal (72 off 51) and KL Rahul (68 off 43) leading the charge. In just 34.4 overs, India set records for the fastest 50, 100, 150, 200, and 250 runs in Test history, declaring at 285/9 with a 52-run lead.

Bangladesh’s second innings began poorly, closing Day 4 at 36/2 after Ravichandran Ashwin struck twice. On the final day, Ravindra Jadeja quickly dismantled their batting lineup, taking three wickets in quick succession. Jasprit Bumrah followed with a devastating spell of fast bowling, dismissing Bangladesh for 146 and leaving India a target of just 95 runs.

India chased the target with ease, with Jaiswal scoring a quick half-century off 43 balls. After his dismissal, Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant took over, with Pant hitting the winning boundary to seal the victory.
