Jasprit Bumrah captained Team India to a commanding 295-run victory over Australia in the opening Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Perth. This marked Australia’s first-ever Test defeat at the new Perth Stadium. Prior to this, Australia had won all four of their Test matches at the venue, against India, New Zealand, the West Indies, and Pakistan.
The recently concluded Test between India and Australia was just the fifth to be held at Optus Stadium since its opening in 2018. In the previous encounter between the two teams at the venue, Australia emerged victorious by 146 runs, a stark contrast to the outcome of this match.
