On Wednesday morning, PM Modi departs for Mumbai on a one-day trip, where he will dedicate three frontline naval combatants to the nation and inaugurate an ISKCON project.
According to an official statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), PM Modi will dedicate three naval combatants—INS Surat, INS Nilgiri, and INS Vaghsheer—at approximately 10:30 am during their commissioning ceremony at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai. Later, around 3:30 pm, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the ISKCON Temple at Kharghar, Navi Mumbai.

PM Modi Departs for Mumbai: India’s Naval Power Boosted
The induction of three major naval combatants marks a significant step towards India’s goal of becoming a global leader in defence manufacturing and maritime security. INS Surat, the final ship in the P15B Guided Missile Destroyer Project, stands as one of the largest and most advanced destroyers globally. With 75 percent indigenous content, it boasts cutting-edge weapon-sensor systems and enhanced network-centric capabilities.
India’s Naval Advancements: INS Nilgiri and INS Vaghsheer
The Indian Navy’s Warship Design Bureau crafted INS Nilgiri, the inaugural ship of the P17A Stealth Frigate Project. It integrates cutting-edge features for improved survivability, seakeeping, and stealth, symbolizing the next generation of domestically built frigates.
INS Vaghsheer, the sixth and final submarine of the P75 Scorpene Project, showcases India’s expanding proficiency in submarine manufacturing, built in partnership with France’s Naval Group.
