    Northeast India: Received the recognition as a travel destination

    For years, Northeast India remained a hidden gem, secluded in the remote corner of the country. As someone hailing from this region, it was hardly surprising when people would ask me where it was after I mentioned Assam. Sadly, sarcastic remarks like were all too common. Post-pandemic, there has been significant growth in interest and demand for travel to the northeastern states. In fact, data shows that the region has not only recovered to pre-pandemic travel levels but has also surpassed them.

    Northeast India: Experts seem to agree

    Vaibhav Kala, a travel expert, founder of Aquaterra Adventures, and senior VP, of the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India shares with India Today that northeast tourism is set to arrive in the coming decade. According to him, every tourism effort progresses through the stages of discovery of USP, awareness, connectivity challenges, lack of infrastructure, capacity building, etc and these stages are en route to completion, which will herald a new era for tourism in the Northeast.
