    Kho Kho World Cup 2025

    On Sunday, at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi, both the Indian men’s and women’s teams made history by defeating Nepal in their respective finals to win the Kho Kho World Cup 2025 titles. The men’s team triumphed with a 54-36 victory, while the women’s team dominated with a 78-40 win over the Nepalese women.

    The Kho Kho World Cup 2025 marked its first edition. Supported by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), the tournament included 20 men’s teams and 19 women’s teams.

    India Clinches Historic Kho Kho World Cup Victory in Men’s Final

    In the men’s final, Nepal won the toss and chose to defend. India took full advantage of their opportunity to bat first, dominating the game and establishing a solid 26-0 lead by the end of Turn 1. During Turn 2, Nepal fought back, closing the gap to 26-18 despite strong opposition from India’s defense. In Turn 3, the hosts increased the pressure, overpowering Nepal’s defense to extend their lead to an impressive 54-18.

    Nepal entered the final stage of the match trailing by 36 points and while they put up a strong performance, it wasn’t sufficient as India emerged victorious, making history as the first-ever Kho Kho World Cup champions. India remained undefeated throughout the tournament. After securing four wins and topping Group A, including a close 42-37 victory over Nepal, they triumphed over Sri Lanka in the quarter-finals and South Africa in the semi-finals.

    India Clinches Women’s Final with Unstoppable Performance and Unbeaten Tournament Run

    In the women’s final, Nepal won the toss and chose to have India attack first. This decision ultimately worked against them as India quickly scored points, putting immediate pressure on the visitors.

    India swiftly eliminated Nepal’s first batch of defenders in under a minute, leading 34-0 at the end of Turn 1, thanks to captain Priyanka Ingle’s double. Nepal fought back in Turn 2, reducing the deficit to 35-24, but India still held the lead. In Turn 3, India extended their dominance, eliminating over six batches of defenders to increase their lead to 73-24.

    The Indian women’s kho kho team remained unbeaten throughout the tournament. They triumphed in all three of their Group A matches, followed by victories over Bangladesh in the quarter-finals and South Africa in the semi-finals.
