    L-G VK Saxena to Outgoing Delhi CM Atishi: ‘Defeat Due to Yamuna’s Curse’

    Delhi CM Atishi tenders her resignation as CM to Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, at Raj Niwas in New Delhi on Sunday.

    According to ANI, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena allegedly told outgoing Delhi Chief Minister Atishi that she lost the assembly elections because of a “curse from Yamuna Maiya” when she went to Raj Bhawan to submit her resignation. Citing sources, the news agency reported that upon Atishi’s arrival at Raj Niwas to submit her resignation, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena reminded her of his repeated warnings to the government regarding public interest matters, especially the cleaning of the River.

    LG Saxena Blames AAP’s Loss on ‘Yamuna Maiya’s Curse’

    Saxena is reported to have told Atishi that the AAP’s loss was due to a “curse from Yamuna Maiya,” adding that despite his repeated warnings about public issues, including the state of the Yamuna, the Arvind Kejriwal-led government had ignored them.

    Ahead of the Delhi assembly elections, cleanliness was a major campaign topic. AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal blamed the Haryana government for polluting the river with “poison.”

    At the same time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his election speech, vowed that the BJP would make “Yamunaji the identity of Delhi.” Meanwhile, lieutenant governor VK Saxena dissolved the seventh legislative assembly of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. Clearing the way for the formation of a new BJP-led government in the national capital.
