Police said on Thursday that a man allegedly locked his sick mother at home in Jharkhand’s Ramgarh district and traveled to Prayagraj for a holy dip in the Maha Kumbh with family.

Woman Survives on Flattened Rice
The 65-year-old woman, identified as Sanju Devi, was locked in the house s.ince Monday and survived on flattened rice (Chura). Her neighbors became aware of her plight when they heard her cries for help due to hunger.
Police Rescue and Medical Assistance
The woman was rescued by police on Wednesday after her daughter, Chandni Devi, informed them about her condition. The police broke open the lock and provided food, medicines, and admission to CCL Hospital for treatment.

Alleged Abandonment by Son, Akhilesh Kumar
Akhilesh Kumar, the woman’s son and a CCL employee, reportedly locked his mother in the house, claiming he made arrangements for her food and drink before leaving for the Maha Kumbh. The woman’s daughter, Chandni Devi, expressed concerns about her brother’s actions, stating he had obtained his CCL job on compassionate grounds.
