The heavy snowfall has disrupted traffic across the region, forcing authorities to close the Srinagar-Jammu national highway near Qazigund and Banihal. Additionally, landslides have occurred at several locations from Banihal to Ramban.

The closure of this highway has disrupted the movement of essential supplies and stranded travelers, affecting connectivity between the two regions. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely, and road clearance operations are expected to begin once weather conditions improve. However, continuous snowfall and harsh winter conditions are making restoration efforts challenging.

    According to the meteorological department, the extreme weather conditions will likely improve by the afternoon.Visuals show roads, mountains, trees, and entire towns laden with thick snow. Many regions, including Rajouri, Doda, and Bhalesa districts, received snowfall, resulting in a sharp drop in temperatures. Anantnag also received heavy snowfall, resulting in the district’s landscape taking on a white hue for as far as the eye could see.
