Shreyas Iyer played a pivotal role in India’s Champions Trophy 2025 victory, not just with his individual performances but also by forging crucial partnerships that anchored the team’s batting. His ability to hold the innings together and build steady stands with different batters proved invaluable throughout the tournament.

Out of India’s top four partnerships in the championship, Shreyas was involved in three, highlighting his significance in stabilizing the innings. His most notable stand came against Pakistan on February 23 in Dubai, where he stitched together a crucial 114-run partnership, ensuring India had a solid platform to build on. His ability to adapt to different match situations, rotate the strike, and accelerate when needed made him a vital asset in the middle order.

“We knew the conditions would be difficult, but we adapted well. If you look at all the games, the first game was against Bangladesh. I know it was only 230, but we knew that the wicket was a little slow. We needed partnerships. The batsmen made big partnerships,” Rohit said in the post-match press conference.

“Not to forget the silent hero Shreyas Iyer throughout the tournament was brilliant. He was very, very important in that middle phase for us. Stitched the partnerships with all the batters who are batting with him that semi-final against Australia, with him and with Virat at that point was very, very important,” Rohit said.
