Rohit Sharma’s leadership shone during India’s successful Champions Trophy campaign, culminating in a four-wicket victory over New Zealand in the Dubai final. Despite losing the toss at times, he led with confidence and authority. What truly stood out was his unwavering trust in every player, especially his consistent support for spinner Kuldeep Yadav until the very end.

Kuldeep Yadav had a tough run until the final, where he delivered by taking the crucial wickets of in-form Kiwis Rachin Ravindra and Kane Williamson.

Rohit Sharma was the first to congratulate him, but Kuldeep had also faced Rohit’s frustration when things didn’t go India’s way.

As they walked up to collect their Champions Trophy-winning blazers, Rohit keenly watched Kuldeep, who struggled to put his on. With Rohit next in line, Kuldeep quickly adjusted his blazer, all while the Indian skipper gave him a sharp gaze. Judging by Rohit’s expression, it seemed like he wouldn’t have let Kuldeep off the hook even on stage.

After India’s triumphant Champions Trophy final, Kuldeep Yadav’s childhood coach, Kapil Pandey, showered praise on Rohit Sharma’s leadership, emphasizing how well he managed the spinners in the middle overs.

“This victory is monumental… It wasn’t about just one player; the entire team contributed significantly to this success. I credit Rohit Sharma for his exceptional planning, which played a key role in guiding Team India to victory. The way he utilized spinners like Kuldeep Yadav and Varun in the crucial middle overs was a game-changer. When I spoke to Kuldeep before the match, I advised him to stay composed and bowl with a relaxed mindset. All four spinners executed their roles brilliantly,” Kapil Pandey remarked.

Rohit Sharma, reflecting on the team’s journey, expressed his satisfaction with their collective effort and the way the tournament unfolded.

“Someone pointed out that we have lost only one match across the last three ICC tournaments. That’s a remarkable achievement and speaks volumes about the quality, depth, and strong understanding within the team,” Rohit stated after the championship win on Sunday night.

“There’s always immense pressure from the outside. The moment India loses a game, there’s endless speculation. But what makes this team special is how the boys have managed to shut out the noise and focus on what truly matters—winning matches and enjoying the game,” he added.
