    India-Pakistan Dispute: India to Pakistan on J-K: ‘Vacate Indian territory first’

    PM Modi, in an interview with American podcaster Lex Fridman, spoke about his efforts to improve relations with Pakistan.

    India-Pakistan Dispute: On Tuesday, India strongly countered Pakistan’s criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks on Jammu and Kashmir, made during his recent interview with American podcaster Lex Fridman. In the interview, aired on Sunday, Modi highlighted the repeated failure of peace efforts with Pakistan, stating that “every sincere attempt at peace was met with hostility and betrayal” while expressing hope that Islamabad’s leadership would eventually choose the path of peace.

    Pakistan’s Response: Allegations of Oppression and Unresolved Kashmir Dispute

    India-Pakistan Dispute: In response, Pakistan’s Foreign Office released a statement, calling Modi’s remarks “misleading and one-sided.” It accused India of disregarding the Kashmir dispute and violating international commitments. The statement claimed the Jammu and Kashmir issue remains unresolved for decades, accusing India of oppression and foreign assassinations. Pakistan asserted support for dialogue but blamed India’s rigidity for stalled progress.

    MEA Slams Pakistan: Calls for End to Terrorism and Vacating Occupied Territory

    Responding to Pakistan, the MEA urged an end to terrorism and vacating occupied Indian land. Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said Pakistan’s focus on Jammu and Kashmir masks its support for cross-border terrorism, the key threat to regional peace.He further added, “Instead of spreading falsehoods, Pakistan should vacate Indian territory under its illegal occupation.”

    Relations between the two countries have been strained since India revoked Article 370 in August 2019, stripping Jammu and Kashmir of its special status and reorganizing it into two Union Territories. Since then, trade and diplomatic ties between the neighbors have largely remained suspended.
