    A man, with his son’s help, allegedly staged a fake kidnapping to avoid repaying a loan, police said on Monday. The police later arrested the duo in Jaipur.

    On Friday, the man told Jamunapar police in Mathura that kidnappers had abducted his son and demanded a Rs 15 lakh ransom.

    Police Investigation Uncovers the Truth

    On Monday, Senior Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar said the inquiry revealed that Nawab Singh (46) and his son staged a fake kidnapping to avoid loan repayment. Singh, a jaggery dealer from Pither village, had filed a complaint in Mathura, alleging that kidnappers had abducted his son Sonu (22).

    The police arrested the duo from Jaipur on Sunday, and the SSP said they will be sent to judicial custody.

    CCTV Footage and Surveillance Crack the Case

    The SSP said the police, while tracking CCTV footage and hotel entries, found a suspicious youth staying in a hotel on April 18 and 19.

    Surveillance traced the location of the youth to Khatu Shyam Jee in Rajasthan’s Sikar and reached Jaipur. The police then went to Jaipur and arrested the alleged kidnapped person and his father.

    During interrogation, it came to light that Nawab Singh had taken a loan worth lakhs for his daughter’s wedding. They said he hatched this conspiracy to avoid repaying the loan.

    The accused told police that by this he could get sympathy from people and also avoid repaying the loan to some extent. For this, the police also registered a case of abduction against those from whom the loan was taken.
