Despite earlier forecasts predicting a clear majority for the ruling party, the Liberals and Conservatives fought a tight race. The Liberals and Conservatives finished within a narrow margin of less than three percent in vote share. The Conservatives gained more than a dozen seats in Ontario, which—with 121 ridings—represents the largest share in the country.
