Tata Motors has created a new record of sales in the electric vehicle segment. The company informed that the Tata Nexon EV has managed to sell 13,500 units in less than 2 years of launch. Earlier in April 2021, the company had informed that 4 thousand units of this car have been sold. That is, in the last 10 months, the company sold 9,000 units.
Permanent Magnet AC motor has been given in Tata Nexon EV. It has a lithium-ion battery for power, which is liquid cooled and IP67 certified. Its battery is water and resistant. That is, its battery is not affected by both water and dust. The Nexon EV has a battery of 30.2 kWh.
Electric car provides a range of 312 km on a single charge
That is, once fully charged, this car gives a journey of up to 312 km without a break. Its new electric powertrain generates 245 Nm of peak torque. This electrician achieves a speed of 0-100 kmph in 9.9 seconds.
Tata Motors has made a good hold on the strength of this car in the EV segment. At present, this car is the best selling car in the segment. A big reason for this is its price, safety features, which customers like very much. Other companies are also launching new EVs in competition with Nexon.
For those who come in late, here is the backstory. The delisting follows a consumer complaint over the vehicle’s failure to meet company’s specified 312km range on a single charge. Last month, the Delhi Transport Commission issued a show cause notice to Tata Motors. In its response released on Monday, the manufacturer has said that it stands by the Nexon EV’s claimed ARAI range, and will continue to engage constructively to protect the interests of its customers. “The Nexon EV is the only personal segment EV available in the market today that meets the stringent FAME norms. The range at single full charge (312km) for the Nexon EV is basis the certification received from the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), which is the official body that independently tests all mass produced vehicles under standard/defined test conditions before they can be offered to customers,” its statement said.
