Vishal Bhardwaj has selected Kartik Aaryan as the lead actor for his delayed project centered around Don Hussain Ustara, previously titled Sapna Didi. This news comes from a recent update by film journalist Rahul Raut on his X account. It will be the first collaboration between Kartik and Vishal on a film.

Kartik Aaryan and Vishal Bhardwaj join forces for an intense thriller project
Under the production of Sajid Nadiadwala, Kartik will portray #HussainUstara, a brave underworld figure who opposed the notorious kingpin #DawoodIbrahim. This project is said to be the same as Vishal Bhardwaj’s earlier work with the late Irrfan Khan and Deepika Padukone titled Sapna Didi, albeit with modifications to focus on Ustara’s viewpoint.

According to the same report, the yet-to-be-titled film will start filming in September 2024, with the role of #AshrafKhan aka #SapnaDidi still awaiting casting. Deepika Padukone was initially linked to the project.
The collaboration between Kartik and Vishal is eagerly anticipated. Vishal is renowned for his intense rural dramas and adaptations of Shakespeare’s works like Maqbool, Omkara, and Haider. He had two releases on OTT platforms last year: Netflix’s Khufiya and SonyLiv’s Charlie Chopra & The Mystery Of Solang Valley.
