Shah Rukh Khan will receive the Locarno Film Festival’s prestigious career achievement award, the Pardo alla Carriera. The festival’s website announced on Tuesday that the award will honor the Bollywood superstar’s ‘remarkable career in Indian cinema’.

Shah Rukh Khan Honored at Locarno Film Festival

Shah Rukh Khan will be honored with the award at the open-air venue Piazza Grande on August 10. The festival will also feature a screening of one of his most celebrated films, Devdas, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. On August 11, Shah Rukh Khan is scheduled to participate in a conversation at the Forum @Spazio Cinema.

In a statement, the Artistic Director of the Locarno Film Festival, Giona A. Nazzaro, expressed, “Welcoming a living legend like Shah Rukh Khan to Locarno is a dream come true! His immense and diverse contributions to Indian cinema are unparalleled. Khan, a charismatic figure, has always maintained a strong connection with his audience, who have embraced him as their own. As a fearless and versatile artist, he continuously challenges himself while staying true to the expectations of his global fanbase. A genuine ‘people’s hero,’ both sophisticated and grounded, Shah Rukh Khan stands as a legend of our era.”

Shah Rukh Khan’s Successful 2023 Comeback

Shah Rukh Khan had a successful 2023, making a comeback to the big screen after a four-year hiatus with three consecutive releases. He returned with YRF’s Pathaan and followed it with Atlee’s Jawan, both of which were box office hits and among the highest-grossing films of the year. His third release of 2023 was Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki.
