Agnipath protests Live Updates: MHA announces 10% reservation for Agniveers in CAPF, Assam Rifles

Agnipath protests Live Updates: Amid the nationwide furor over the controversial Agnipath scheme for short-term military recruitment in the armed forces, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) Saturday announced it would reserve 10 percent of vacancies for recruitment in the Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles for Agniveers. The Ministry also announced a 3-year age relaxation above the upper age limit for the recruitment of ‘Agniveers’ in the two forces. The first batch of ‘Agniveers’ will get an age relaxation of five years beyond the upper age limit, the ministry tweeted on Saturday.

Several student associations in Bihar, led by the All India Students’ Association (AISA), have called for a 24-hour bandh in the state today to protest the Agnipath recruitment scheme. The RJD-led alliance has supported the bandh.
