PM Modi on Business Talks with Elon Musk: His Response Narendra Modi humorously remarked that only former U.S. President Donald Trump holds the copyright to the word “deal” when asked whether business discussions were part of his meeting with tech billionaire Elon Musk.

PM Modi’s Lighthearted Response on Business Talks with Elon Musk

During a press conference following his meeting with Trump, PM Modi clarified, “I have known Elon Musk for a long time. Today, he met me along with his family, and we had a conversation in a warm, family-like setting.”

Musk, the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla and a close associate of Trump, met PM Modi at the Blair House in Washington, D.C., the U.S. President’s guest house. He was accompanied by his three children—X, Strider, and Azure—as well as Neuralink director Shivon Zilis. As a gesture, Musk gifted PM Modi a Starship hexagonal heatshield tile, while Modi presented Musk’s children with classic Indian books, including the Panchatantra and Crescent Moon by Rabindranath Tagore.

Following the meeting, PM Modi shared on X, “Had a great discussion with Elon Musk in Washington, D.C. We talked about various topics, including his key interests—space, mobility, technology, and innovation. I also spoke about India’s commitment to reforms and the principle of ‘Minimum Government, Maximum Governance.'”

The Ministry of External Affairs stated that PM Modi and Elon Musk discussed strengthening collaboration between Indian and U.S. entities. Key focus areas included innovation, space exploration, artificial intelligence, and sustainable development.

Earlier, Reuters reported that Starlink’s potential entry into the South Asian market was expected to be a topic of discussion.

PM Modi visited the U.S. on Wednesday for a two-day trip, his first since Donald Trump’s second term began. Before departing for India, he and Trump held a joint press conference, announcing key agreements. These included the extradition of 2008 Mumbai attacks convict Tahawwur Rana, the deportation of illegal immigrants, and a deal for U.S. oil and gas exports to India.
