    According to Datum Intelligence, a consumer technology market research firm, e-commerce giants like Flipkart, Amazon, Myntra, and Meesho, along with other retailers, have experienced a strong start to the festive season. Sales data collected over the first three days, starting from September 26, the beginning of this year’s flagship sale, highlights this surge. Whether online or offline, festive season sales are a prime time for customers to make significant purchases, drawn by the promise of deep discounts. This annual event typically starts in late September, just before Diwali, and lasts for several weeks.

    Festive Season Drives Massive GMV Growth with Mobile Phones and Durables Leading Sales Surge

    This period is crucial for companies, as a significant portion of their annual gross merchandise value (GMV) is generated within just a few weeks. Notably, 60 percent of the total festive season GMV is typically achieved during the first week. E-commerce platforms and retailers are projected to reach a GMV of Rs 1,00,000 crore during this year’s festive sales. Of that, Rs 26,500 crore was recorded in the first three days alone, according to Datum Intelligence. “The driving force behind this surge was mobile phones and durable goods.

    Easier Credit Options Boost Demand as E-commerce Sees Record User Visits and High Sales Across Key Categories

    Easier credit options fuelled demand. E-commerce giants like Flipkart said they saw 33 crore or 330 million user visits during the initial sale days this year. “Early trends suggest a promising festive season ahead…categories such as Mobiles, Electronics, Large Appliances, Fashion, Beauty and Home products (have) witnessed the highest demand among customers,” Flipkart said in a press release on September 28.
