Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Minister for Electronic and Information Technology, stated on Thursday that the government’s primary focus this year will be on the full implementation of the Digital Credit System.
“In 2023, a major focus would be on the complete rollout of the Digital Credit System. I request NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India) take lead. You made the UPI system, you already have the entire building blocks,” the minister said.
Eminent representatives from the Delhi Police, banks, fintechs, and central ministries were present at the occasion.
The “Digital Payments Utsav” is a remarkable campaign, according to the Ministry of Electronics and IT, that will highlight India’s path of digital transformation through a number of events and activities from February 9 to October 9 of this year.
As part of the G20 Digital Economy Working Group (DEWG) event, “the focus of the campaign would be on promoting digital payments across the country, especially in the cities of Lucknow, Pune, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru,” it stated.
The minister added that UPI 123 Pay will soon be available in the local language thanks to a collaboration between Mission Bhashini, the National Language Translation Mission, and Digital Payments.
This will make it possible for regular people to make payments using voice commands in their own language, he continued.
The launch, according to the ministry, will also emphasise how digital payments guarantee financial inclusion and empower small business owners, street sellers, and everyday citizens of the nation.
The possibility to implement digital payments as true “whole of Government” projects with active participation from other key ministries will also be provided by the Digital Payment Utsav, it was underlined.
