In horrifying news from Assam, police have detained a guy on suspicion of raping and murdering a 16-year-old girl. The incident occurred in the Kamrup district.
On Friday, the teen’s body was discovered in the Digaru River in Sonapur. According to authorities, the girl walked out last Monday to recharge her phone before going missing. Her body was later discovered along the river, provoking a demonstration in the region as residents demanded immediate action and wanted harsh punishment for the perpetrator.

“On June 26, My younger sister went to the market to bring fish. Since then, she didn’t return home. We have filed a missing complaint at Sonapur police station. We don’t know what exactly happened to her. Her body was later found in Digaru river,” said the victim’s elder sister.
The cops have arrested an autorickshaw driver who has confessed to the crime. Further probe into the matter is underway.
