    Maharashtra: CCTV Footage Missing From Bar Where BJP Chief's Son Sanket Bawankule Dined Before

    In Ramdaspeth, an Audi belonging to Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule’s son. Sanket Bawankule, and allegedly driven by his friend Arjun Hawre, collided with several vehicles. The Nagpur police reported on Thursday that the CCTV footage from the bar Sanket visited hours before the crash is missing. The incident, which occurred early Monday morning, resulted in two injuries. The police have confiscated the digital video recorder.

    One of the cars struck by the Audi pursued the vehicle and caught up with Sanket Bawankule’s friends, Arjun Hawre and Ronit Chittwamwar, who were then handed over to the police. Hawre was arrested but later released on bail.

    An official from Sitabuldi police station stated, “The CCTV footage from La Horre Bar, where they were prior to the crash, is missing. We seized the DVR on Wednesday and have sent it for forensic analysis.” Initially, the bar’s management refused to provide the footage to the police but complied after being threatened with legal action. However, the footage from Sunday night was missing.

    “The bar management complied after being threatened with legal action, but we discovered that there had been no footage since Sunday night. The investigation is ongoing,” an officer informed.

    Sanket Bawankule Admits Being in Car; Driver Arrested, Forensic Report Pending

    The police confirmed that while Sanket Bawankule was present in the car, he was not the one driving. At the bar, they consumed alcohol along with chicken and mutton dishes. Nagpur Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Rahul Madane stated on Tuesday that Sanket Bawankule admitted to being in the car.

    “We have questioned all three occupants of the car. The driver, Arjun Hawre, was arrested but later released on bail since it was a bailable offense,” the officer said. He further noted that medical samples from the occupants were sent for forensic analysis, and the report is still pending.Madane also revealed that the car’s number plate was found inside the vehicle. “There were three people in the car: Arjun Hawre, Sanket Bawankule, and Ronit Chittamwar. A medical examination of the injured showed no serious injuries. Sanket Bawankule admitted to being in the car.”

    Maharashtra BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule emphasized that justice should be impartial. Stating that appropriate action should be taken, “whether the car belongs to my son or a criminal.”
