An unnamed caller’s bomb threat frightened executives at a leading IT firm in Hyderabad’s Kondapur, causing them to quickly evacuate over 1500 employees from the corporate premises.
Around 11 a.m., the security team at Tata Consultancy Services’ Kondapur campus received a call informing them of a bomb in the building. Madhapur police reacted quickly when firm officials informed them of the danger. The threat was eventually revealed to be a hoax by the bomb disposal squad.
Senior Police officials confirmed to The Indian Express that the caller was identified as a former employee of the company’s security wing. Despite the second call from the caller claiming that the threat was a hoax, the bomb disposal unit screened the entire premises and found no evidence of a bomb.
“The caller has been identified and the motive behind the threat call is being ascertained. A case will be registered after the initial inquiry. We need to also verify if he has any psychological issues or is a disgruntled former employee who holds a grudge against management for removal from the job,” an official said.
Officials claimed there was no panic and the police went ahead with the standard drill when informed about the threat call. As many as 1500 employees were present on campus at the time. The caller was traced to Bengaluru and efforts are on to nab him, the official said.
