Ayodhya has reported a significant theft involving 3,800 bamboo lights and 36 gobo projector lights from the city’s Ram Path and Bhakti Path. The total value of the stolen lights is over Rs 50 lakh. The incident was brought to light after a contractor filed a complaint with the police.
The theft was discovered when Shekhar Sharma, a representative of the contracting firm Yash Enterprises and Krishna Automobiles, inspected the lighting installations. According to the complaint, a total of 6,400 bamboo lights and 96 gobo projector lights were initially installed under a contract awarded by the Ayodhya Development Authority. These lights were placed on the trees along Ram Path and Bhakti Path.

Lights Theft Discovered in Ayodhya: FIR Filed Months Later
The contractor reported that all lights were in place until March 19. However, during a follow-up inspection on May 9, it was noticed that a substantial number of lights were missing. Specifically, 3,800 bamboo lights and 36 gobo projector lights were stolen. The theft not only resulted in significant financial loss but also disrupted the planned lighting displays along Ram Path and Bhakti Path. The missing lights were crucial for the aesthetics and functionality of these prominent areas.

FIR Delayed in Rs 50 Lakh Ayodhya Lights Theft Case
The firm became aware of the theft in May, but the FIR was only lodged on August 9 at the Ram Janmabhoomi police station. Despite the significant value of the stolen lights, which amounts to over ₹50 lakh, the police have yet to provide any comments on the progress of their investigation. The case remains under active scrutiny as authorities work diligently to identify those responsible for this substantial loss and recover the stolen property. The delay in reporting and the ongoing investigation have raised concerns within the community.
