The Gurugram Police allegedly did not collect crucial video evidence from the scene of a fatal crash between a bike and an SUV, despite viewing the footage at the time. The incident took place on Golf Course Road, Gurugram, where 23-year-old Akshat Garg tragically lost his life after his bike collided with an SUV. According to Pradyuman Kumar, a close friend of the victim, Akshat’s GoPro camera had captured the entire accident. However, the police, despite seeing the footage, chose not to take it as evidence on the day of the accident. Three days later, after Kuldeep Thakur was released on bail, the police contacted Kumar to obtain the footage.

The victim’s mother, Rekha Garg, voiced her dismay and anger over the quick bail granted to Thakur. Despite clear evidence of the incident and the accused’s past record of traffic violations, Thakur was released shortly after the accident. Rekha Garg questioned the country’s legal system, stating, “How can someone kill a person and still manage to get bail so quickly? This is a failure on the part of the law. It raises serious questions about how our legal system treats such grave offenses.”

Accused Stayed in Vehicle, Didn’t Help Victim

Pradyuman Kumar also highlighted that the accused, Kuldeep Thakur, did not attempt to help the victim at the time of the crash. Instead, he remained in his vehicle and only stepped out when local residents and bystanders intervened to assist the victim. According to Kumar, Thakur even made a phone call after the accident, before his eventual arrest.

The family of Akshat Garg is now seeking justice and hoping that strict legal action will be taken against the accused. They believe that the swift release of the accused on bail, despite the availability of evidence, points to a deeper issue within the system and are determined to see justice served in their son’s case.
