    Kabaddi player Sandeep Nangal shot dead in Punjab’s Jalandhar

    Kabaddi player Sandeep Nangal Ambian shot dead during a live match of a kabaddi tournament in Jalandhar’s Malian Khurd on Monday evening, police said.

    The incident took place between 6:15 pm to 6:30 pm. Ambien came along with his team to participate in a match which supposed to start in the evening, The Indian Express reported.

    “Kabbadi player Sandeep Nangal shot dead by unidentified people in Malian. Four people arrived in a car and shot him during an ongoing match. FIR has been registered, we are investigating. Further details can be given after post mortem,” ANI quoted Satinder Singh, SSP Jalandhar Police, as saying.

    According to reports, when Sandeep came out of the tournament site, unidentified assailants opened fire on him, leaving him dead on the spot. 

    Besides him, a teenage boy also injured but he is out of danger, reports added.

    Sandeep was among the top five Kabaddi players of the world. He was head of Major Kabaddi League Federation. Besidies this, he represented the United Kingdom team as captain in the various Kabaddi World Cup tournaments. 

    A personal rivalry or professional jealousy could be the reason behind the incident, police said.

    Sandeep is survive by his parents, wife and two sons.
