Moga Youth Hires Instagram Hitman for Rs 4,000 to Eliminate Blackmailer

A 19-year-old from Moga allegedly hired a contract killer on Instagram to eliminate a blackmailer, according to Moga police. The victim had been threatening to release objectionable videos involving the youth and his girlfriend. The accused reportedly paid the killer Rs 4,000 in cash and gave him a mobile phone.

The police reported that Gurmukh Singh, alias Sunil (22), from Moga’s Singhawala, was found dead in a drain near Bukkanwala on the night of September 16. He had been strangled with a cloth, and his throat was slit with a knife.

SSP Ankur Gupta said that the investigation revealed Gurmukh Singh had possession of compromising videos of the 19-year-old. Which he used to blackmail the youth, threatening to make them public.

According to SSP Gupta, the accused contacted Gurlal Singh (22) from Saido village in Tarn Taran district through Instagram, asking him to kill Gurmukh. The deal was finalized at Rs 15,000, police said.

Victim Lured Under Pretext of Drinking, Murdered and Dumped in Drain; Three Suspects Arrested

On September 15, Gurlal and his accomplice, Onkar Singh (20), took a bus to Singhawala and arrived at a pre-arranged spot. Later, the 19-year-old lured Gurmukh to the drain near Bukkanwala under the pretense of having drinks. Meanwhile, Gurlal and Onkar arrived at the designated spot in Singhawala.

Once there, the group drank alcohol together. Then, Onkar threw chili powder into Gurmukh’s eyes and strangled him with a cloth. Afterward, Gurlal slit Gurmukh’s throat with a knife, according to the police.

After the murder, they dumped the body in a drain and stole the victim’s bike to return to Tarn Taran. The 19-year-old paid them Rs 4,000 in cash and gave them a mobile phone, according to police. All three suspects have been arrested. An FIR for murder has been registered under sections 103, 238, and 3 (5) of the BNS at City South Moga police station.
