    CCTV footage from inside the BEST bus that fatally hit seven pedestrians in Mumbai’s Kurla area shows driver Sanjay More grabbing two backpacks from the cabin and escaping through a broken window after the tragic accident on Monday. More has been arrested on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and is under police custody until December 21. The viral CCTV footage begins with scenes of passengers panicking as the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) electric bus swerved off course, colliding with pedestrians and vehicles in the busy area of Mumbai.

    Mumbai : Passengers and Driver Escape After Deadly Accident

    Some passengers are seen holding onto handles and poles for support, while others stand up and peer out of the windows to assess the situation outside. Once the bus comes to a stop, passengers attempt to kick open the door. They climb onto seats and jump out through the windows to escape. After all passengers have exited, the driver is captured on footage gathering two backpacks and jumping out of a broken window, while the conductor exits through the rear side door.

    Kurla Accident: 42 Injured, 22 Vehicles Damaged, Spotlight on Driver Training

    The deadly accident that took place at around 9.30 pm on Monday on the SG Barve Marg in Kurla, also damaged at least 22 vehicles. Out of the 42 injured, four were police personnel. As per details, More had no experience of driving EVs and only underwent a 10-day training. On Wednesday, officials from BEST and the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) held meetings with private operators and affirmed focus on driver training and additional safety.
