UP: 2 helpers among 3 held for killing ex-IAS officer’s wife

Two days after the murder of a 71-year-old woman, the wife of a ex-IAS officer, at her home in Indra Nagar, Lucknow police arrested three individuals on Tuesday, including two of the victim’s employees. The police stated that the accused committed the murder during a robbery.

The arrest individuals were identifie as Ravi Yadav (23), his brother Akhilesh (27), and their accomplice Ranjeet (27), all residents of Lucknow. Joint Commissioner of Police (Lucknow) Akash Kulhary revealed that Ravi and Akhilesh had been working at the victim’s residence as helpers for several years, while Ranjeet is a laborer. During an exchange of fire with the police, Akhilesh sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg but is stable following treatment. Police report that Akhilesh was injure while attempting to escape after firing at them, prompting the officers to return fire.

Murder of ex-IAS Officer’s Wife: Stolen Jewellery and Foreign Currency Recovered

Police claimed to have recovered stolen jewellery worth around Rs 1 crore as well as foreign currency from their possession. A screwdriver and a two-wheeler allegedly used in the crime and the (Digital Video Recorder) DVR of the CCTV system that had been install at the victim’s house was also recover.

On Saturday morning, when retired IAS officer Devendra Dubey returned home from playing golf, he found his wife, Lalit Mohini Dubey dead and their home ransacked. A police team reached the house and sent the body for postmortem examination. Akash told that after questioning several persons, they concluded that someone known to the victim could be involve in the crime.

Police Interrogation Reveals Motive Behind Murder and Robbery

The police picked up Akhilesh for questioning. Police told that after questioning, Akhilesh admitt to his role in the crime, along with his brother Ravi and friend Ranjeet, who were also arrested later. Police said that during investigation, it was revealed that Akhilesh was diagnosed with tuberculosis some time ago and had borrowed over Rs 2 lakh for his treatment. He was unable to repay the debt. Ranjeet borrowed around Rs 3 lakh and also failed to repay the money.
