Officials confirmed that a 5.1 magnitude Earthquake on the Richter scale struck early Tuesday morning near Puri in Odisha, causing tremors in some coastal areas.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the earthquake occurred at approximately 6:10 AM and had its epicenter in the Bay of Bengal at a depth of 91 kilometers. Officials recorded the geographical coordinates of the earthquake at latitude 19.52° North and longitude 88.55° East.

Although there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties, the tremor prompted concern among residents in nearby coastal regions. Some people in Puri and surrounding areas reportedly felt mild vibrations, though the intensity was not strong enough to cause significant structural damage.
Authorities and disaster response teams are closely monitoring the situation, ensuring that there are no aftershocks or further seismic activity. The National Center for Seismology (NCS) and IMD have reassured residents that the earthquake was moderate in magnitude and is unlikely to have major consequences.
