A man who was drenched in mud and frantically clutching to a massive boulder to escape the flood waters flowing past him in Wayanad, a region affected by landslides, was rescued on Tuesday after an eight-hour expedition.
Photographs showing the unfortunate man’s struggle to survive among the strewn stones in the floodwater came from this village, Mundakkai, where hundreds are said to be trapped after the tragic landslides that were caused by heavy rain in the early hours of Tuesday.

Man was struggling while the locals helplessly watched and called for urgent help
Floodwater carried him away and left him stranded between enormous boulder, with the strong currents and deep marsh making it impossible for him to swim or stand to safety.After one of the locals filmed video of his trauma, it was broadcast on television, throughout the process officials to send rescue workers to the location as soon as possible.
After an arduous search that lasted for hours, the man was eventually found and taken to a hospital; however, neither his identification nor his health status are known.
