    Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has launched a new course that offers a master’s degree in Hindu Studies from this year. The varsity said that this course is unique and one-of-its-kind and aimed at preparing scholars in Indian ancient studies. 

    According to the spokesperson of the university, the course has been designed as a part of National Educational Policy 2020. Meanwhile, Centenary Chair Professor Rakesh Upadhyaya believes that the programme will help at establishing ‘Sanatan’ life values. 

    Through this program, the varsity is aim at providing comprehensive knowledge of Hindu Dharma and till now at least 45 students joined in its first batch.

    Indian as well as students from foreign countries are eligible to enrol for this course. The varsity had passed the proposal to launch the following course earlier this month. 

    Bharat Adhyayan Kendra along with the collaboration of the Department of Philosophy and Religion, Department of Sanskrit and Department of Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology, under the faculty of Arts will offer the course. 

    MA in Hindu Studies in Banaras conducted by Bharat Adhyayan Kendra in collaboration with the Department of Philosophy and Religion, Department of Sanskrit, and Department of Ancient Indian History, Culture, and Archeology.

    While talking about the inauguration of MA in Hindu Studies, Rector Prof. V. K. Shukla said that the course will bring out an innovation that is the need of the hour. The course will further introduce students to Hindu Dharma and its various unknown aspects. 

    Adding to the statement, Dr. Vijay Shankar Shukla, Director, Indira Gandhi National Center for Arts said, there is a need for courses in the field of Hindu Studies where students can learn about the Hindu Dharma and educate themselves in the domain.
