Council had approved of this proposal on December 10 against the dissent of 16 council members in Delhi-University.
In fact, in the Friday meeting, two executive council members stood in opposition to the proposal. However, a senior varsity member revealed that the work on the examination modality will start soon.
The council also discussed granting paid maternity leave to ad hoc and non-teaching faculties in Delhi-University. The official report stated, “The Committee notes that ad hoc/contractual women teaching and non-teaching employees. “
“Paid maternity leave can be granted to such women employees of the University/Colleges for a maximum period of 26 weeks within the specified time of such fixed term engagement.”
During the meeting, the committee also approved the proposal demanding payment of honorariums. And providing certain facilities to Adjunct Faculty members.
However, the two committees in August decided to impanel Adjunct Faculty for “value addition” and “internationalization of the academic activities”.
A nine-member panel constituted by DU vice-chancellor Yogesh Singh had recommended that the varsity should hold entrance examinations. Through a Common Entrance Test to ensure substantial objectivity in the process of admission, amid controversy over a high number of cent percent scorers from the Kerala Board getting admission to the varsity.
The committee formed under the chairmanship of Dean (examinations) D S Rawat was to examine the reasons. For over and under admissions to undergraduate courses, study the board-wise distribution of admissions in all undergraduate courses. Suggest alternative strategies for optimal admissions in undergraduate courses, and examine OBC admissions with reference to the non-creamy layer status.
