During the Delhi University’s convocation today, 910 PhDs will awarded, with more women recipients than males, a top university official informed PTI. According to the official, this is the most PhDs that have ever awarded by any university in the nation.
Last year, the university gave out 802 PhD degrees. “About 910 students will awarded PhD degrees. The figure is the highest in the history of the university. In fact, it is the highest number of PhD degrees awarded by any university in the country so far,” the official said. Those receiving PhD degrees comprise 512 females and 398 males.
At the ceremony, 170 students—51 men and 119 females—will receive medals and awards.
In addition to Federal Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, President Droupadi Murmu will attend the convocation as the principal guest.
Moreover, 47 students pursuing a Doctor of Medicine/Master of Surgery degree will get their diplomas (M.Ch).
Special instructions have also issued by the university for the orderly conduct of the ceremony.
In order to preserve the sacredness and tradition of the event. Candidates who qualified to obtain the degree have advised to adhere to the rules. On this occasion, 1,57,290 undergraduate and postgraduate students will get digital degrees; of them, 54.7% will be female and 45.3% will be male.
